I just posted this same link in another discussion here, but wanted to give it its own headline so please forgive the double post. I am really excited to have found this entire book available online! This is a really radical look at education by a former school teacher, worth thinking about in my opinion. I am linking to a part of the prologue that kind of sums it up but if you click on Table of Contents you'll find the whole amazing book.

Re: revolution
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 10:24 AMYes! Me, too. Reading this stuff has really got my mind working about the history of school and education, where are the similarities and differences in different cultures and locations, that sort of thing. It's really thought provoking.
Btw, Radha, I did post some links on my profile as you suggested. There aren't many but I hope to add to them as time permits. If even one person gets as much out of this stuff as I feel like I have then that makes my day!
